Team Alfi claims Open du Soleil

The Open du Soleil came to a fabulous end at Saint Tropez Polo Club with two spectacular finals and a special “La Nuit Argentine” themed event. The 18-goal ADS Cup kicked off the day, with several high goal players, such as Polito Pieres, Joaquín Pittaluga, Jaime García Huidobro & Bautista Ortiz de Urbina, taking to the field alongside young up-and-coming players, like Nacho Kennedy. After a great showdown, ALFI Investments managed to claim the 8.5 – 8 win. The 10-goal was up next, with the Argentine Foods Cup. Amanara had just fallen short in the final of the Cote D’Azur Cup, while their rivals, Los Nocheros, lost in this same final in 2016. The match was very even throughout the four chukkas, but Nicky Sen’s team came out on top (7-5) to take the title. Many Argentine products,...

La Indiana champion of the Open du Soleil

A great event came to an end after two weeks of polo and fun in the sun, both on and off the field. The Open du Soleil saw a total of eleven teams compete in both categories: 10-goal and 18-goal. Cote d’Azur Open finalists La Indiana & Ferne Park faced each other once again in the 18-goal, while Tenderworks and Los Nocheros battled it out in the 10-goal. The weekend was topped off with a fantastic Sunday Polo party. La Indiana and Ferne Park were up first, both teams looking to claim the prestigious title. Michael Bickford’s team started off with half a goal handicap advantage and took control of the match in the first chukkas. Ferne Park reacted and found their rhythm, charging in attack. Their defence also stood its ground, giving their opponents few chances to score. But La Indiana ...

Great victory for La Indiana in St Tropez

A wind of change has blown through the Polo Club Saint-Tropez. New teams have arrived at the stables and for two weeks the games have unfolded with a marked intensity. Two levels of play have been underway at the same time with 14 teams trying to qualify for these finals. After 15 days of combat in the High Goal, it is the La Indiana and Ferne Park polo teams that would be in contention for the Côte d’Azur Polo Cup. In the Medium Goal, La Concepcion and La Bien Mirada would also be participating. The first final played over five chukkas was spectacular with the teams chasing in each other’s tracks to score. But unfortunately, at the end of the fourth period, the Australian player, Ruki Baillieu (7 hcp), had a violent fall and had to be replaced by Franky Menendez (7 hcp). It was Fran...

Saint Tropez – Sun Trophy came to an end

The weather forecast announced a rainy, thundery Sunday in Gassin but the peninsula is often full of surprises and it was after a very wet morning that the sun, with which we are so familiar, made its appearance as from 2 pm. The field of honour, impeccable in quality with its combination of sand and tifton, absorbed the superfluous rainwater, so that the final match, delayed by one hour, took place in exceptional conditions, with both sun and comfort for the ponies’ legs. In the first chukker, as was the case a fortnight ago, Saint-Tropez Polo Team stood its ground against the impressive cavalry of Mr Fiyaz’s F Polo Team. But over time the gap in the score increased. The results: F Polo Team ‪8 vs Saint-Tropez Polo Team 4 with Esteban Ferrari, unbiased referee. Ms. Schuler’s mare &#...
