Argentina takes home its fifth title as World Champions

The XI FIP World Polo Championship Sydney 2017 has come to an end. This event will be recorded as one of the best World Championships in the history of the tournament. Sydney Polo Club, the organizers, delivered a world-class event on which no detail was left to be improvised, everything was organized to perfection. After Argentina emerged victorious from a nail-biting final match with Chile, the day closed with a show and the reassurance that Australia and most precisely Sydney, are destinations where you can find the best polo in the world, combined with excellent hosts. England and Spain will play the World Cup

France had to beat England if they hoped to still have their chance to gain the second ticket for the World Championship of Polo Sydney. While they clearly had the upward during all the encounter, France has finally broken three minutes from the end. This was all it took for a certain Will Lucas to step into the breach and score three goals, concluding three amazing individual actions. England defeated France 7 – 6 and qualified for the FIP World Championship. The other European team will be Spain, who beat Germany in the game in parallel, and will also fly to Australia next October to play the final phases of the World Cup. The local team, the French closed the qualifiers with the heart full of pain.

US Open Final, again Valiente v Orchard Hill

Finalists were determined Wednesday for the 2017 U.S. Open Polo Championship at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC). In the semifinals defending champion Orchard Hill took a 10-9-overtime victory over previously undefeated Flexjet, and 2015 U.S. Open winner Valiente defeated Travieso (a team that made their U.S. Open debut this year) 16-6.   Photo: Alex Pacheco

Habtoor Polo won the Dubai Cup, the last tournament of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series 2017, after defeating Mahra by 8.5 goals to 8 in a great final held this afternoon at the Al Habtoor Polo Resort. Patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team played a great match against a very tough opponent and achieved the last trophy of an amazing season of the Dubai Polo Gold Cup Series. Both teams fought till the last seconds of the match for the victory but Habtoor Polo, with a great teamwork performance, achieved to back away talented Mahra players for a deserved victory. Coming off a strong showing in the USPA Gold Cup®, Coca-Cola overtook a tenacious Flexjet team in the USPA Butler Handicap final at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) on Sunday, April 2. Powered by patrona Gillian Johnston, Coca-Cola took the title with a 12-9 win over Flexjet. Flexjet started off on a good note with Gonzalito Pieres converting a long run to open the scoring. One of the most memorable weekends of this European polo season has come to an end, and spectators and players experienced a unique double-championship in the multi-cultural city of Berlin. After Ireland and France managed to make it to the finals of the XI. FIP European Championship, it was time to move the thrill of the game to the main stage: the magnificent Maifeld Stadium. The day kicked off with an encounter between Poland and Slovakia. Both teams were lucky enough to experience a brand new Mailfeld that had been prepared for the event.
